Dolphin pair spotted not far from Venice’s Grand Canal

Rome – A pair of dolphins was spotted at the entrance to the Grand Canal in the Venetian lagoon on Monday. The two dolphins swam from the Canale della Giudecca to the basin of St. Mark’s Square not far from the Grand Canal and were filmed by amazed Venetians. The videos went viral within hours. Although dolphins are not a novelty in the lagoon, they had never ventured into an area with a strong human presence like St. Mark’s Square, local media reported.
