Easy hacks for kids to exercise and love it!

Physical activity is equally important for both children and adults if they want to lose or maintain weight. Most kids spend more than 20 hours a week watching TV, surfing the Internet, or playing video games, leaving no room for physical activity. And even if you give them the opportunity to do some physical activity, many times they avoid it because it doesn’t pique their interest. So the best thing you can do is pack some of their favorite things into simple activities and sooner rather than later you’ll have your kids off the couch. For example, your kids will get exercise and love the activity just by following some of these tips!

  • Take the dog for a walk: Children love pets! A good way to turn this love of pets into a physical activity is to get them a dog. Before you get the dog for them, make a deal with them that it is their responsibility to walk it. You can add more fun to this activity by gifting them a Frisbee, which will keep them engaged in dog training and burning calories in the meantime.
  • Add Assignment: If your children like to earn their allowance. Then it’s your best bet to turn this assignment into a physical activity. Give them an assignment to do chores that require physical labor, like mowing the lawn, raking leaves, or even washing the car! It’s the outcome of the activity that wins over kids, and when the outcome is monetary or something tangible, they’re sure to love the activity and do it from time to time.
  • Lead by example: Children generally learn from their elders and try to relate to older members of their family. So if you’re a parent who loves exercise, your child is likely to become an exercise-conscious person, too. What you could do is indulge them in your activities. For example, when you go for a walk at night, take your child with you and, on the way, the two of you can talk about school stories or what happened in the day. It will grow the bond between parents and children and the children will enjoy the ride.
  • Amusement Parks and Zoo: If you have an amusement park or even regular parks in your neighborhood, take your kids every day at night to play and mingle with kids their own age. This will give them the opportunity to be socially and physically active. Plus, frequent trips to the zoo will definitely keep the kids moving!
  • Just dance: Put on the music and shake your body! Dancing is one of the most fun and exciting ways to burn calories. Have your kids join you and make it a family dance, it doesn’t have to be a specific type of dance. Let the children enjoy it! As long as they keep moving, their mission will be accomplished.

Kids have very active minds, and this is the phase of life where you can turn them into a couch potato or fitness fanatic. Parents can make all the difference in how they can be. Remember that there are many other ways to keep your child active along the lines of physical exercise and leisure. So be creative and above all, have fun!
