Finding an authentic Egyptian rug can be a more complicated task than many consumers expect when shopping for rugs. In today’s market, most Egyptian rugs resemble Persian rugs, and very few designs actually represent the recognizable “Egyptian look” that consumers have come to expect.

Every year only a few rugs and rugs hit the American oriental rug market in the traditional Egyptian style. For this reason, Egypt is sadly not described as a producer of rugs and rugs.

Despite the low number of rugs produced, they are considered to be some of the highest quality and most intricately designed rugs on the market.

Why are traditional they so rare?

Then, after World War II, authentic rug production began again in Egypt in 1952 when several companies refocused on creating authentic Egyptian-style rugs. These companies currently employ thousands of weavers who want to learn the beautiful art of Egyptian rug and rug weaving.

Still, only a small percentage of the rugs and rugs they produce make it to the United States.

The beauty of Egyptian rugs

Typically, Egyptian or merino wool or silk is used in authentic weaving patterns. This material is then dyed with synthetic dyes and machine-spun pile. Although the styles include Persian weaving and knot-tying techniques, the graphic design and layout associated with these styles differs from other styles of oriental rugs on the market.

Egyptian designs and motifs typically feature geometric patterns and intricate floral designs. These designs are very intricate and come in a wide variety of colors that can complement any living space.

They’re worth it?

Egyptian rugs are hard to find and can be quite expensive. However, a rug of this quality and beauty is a great asset to any living space. Although Egypt is not usually known for its rugs, the rugs are very well made and represent the best qualities of rug weaving that each rug producing country has to offer.
