Vacation Tips: How to Enjoy a Day Trip to the Bahamas on a Budget

If you’ve planned a vacation on one of the many cruise lines available and one of your stops might be the Bahamas, you’ll quickly discover that the Bahamas isn’t the least expensive stop on your cruise. Nevertheless; you can learn to enjoy visiting there even if you are on a budget. A word of warning though, if you decide to do this trip on your own, make sure you get back to your ship in time for your departure. They will only wait for you if you took your shore excursion which is through the cruise line.

You want to be able to see as much as you can in the time you will be allowed. So you should plan to get up very early and leave the ship as soon as you can. This will allow you to have some time to enjoy.

If you are in Nassau, a good place to go and that is very cheap is the water taxi that is in the Marketplace. This is a taxi that will take you to what is called Paradise Island for only $6 round trip. Here you can visit the Atlantis resort. The beauty here will stay with you forever.

While visiting Atlantis, visit the casino as long as you don’t have children with you. If you have children, take them to the lobby where they can enjoy their giant aquariums. You can also buy what is called “the Dig” which is a ticket that allows you to go to the underground aquariums they have. But remember, if you’re on a budget, this may not be for you because it’s an expensive attraction to pay for.

Take the time to visit Atlantis because you have an extremely beautiful land that you are on and it is absolutely free to enjoy the beauty that the grounds have to offer. The only thing that would cost you money would be to want to go swimming in their pools, these are free for those who stay there but not for those who are just visiting.

Before you leave Atlantis, take some time to explore the different shops and even grab a bite to eat or drink on your way back to your taxi. When you return to the taxi, take the opportunity to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you and relax.

Once you return to Nassau, you should still have time to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the sights and smells of the area. Take your time, have fun and enjoy all the colorful people you will meet along the way. If you didn’t eat anything before leaving Paradise Island, it’s probably a good idea to wait until you’re back on the ship to do so.

Another way to enjoy this part of the Bahamas is to go to the Marketplace and instead of renting a water taxi you can also join a tour that will cost you $25 each and they will give you a tour of the entire island and also include a stop than an hour in Atlantis as well. This if in your budget is really the way to go.
