Aid! The IRS just put a tax link on me! What do I do after?

Creditors, banks, vendors, customers, and anyone else who takes the time can see this information. Without repair, it will be increasingly difficult to obtain credit, loans, and sell real estate.

Credit Score Crash! Once on the public record, a tax lien can seriously damage your credit score. This is the indicator by which potential lenders assess your creditworthiness (your ability to repay the loan). In my experience as an IRS Hitman, if your credit score goes down, your lending opportunities become more and more limited. You will pay more for loans and financing. It will affect what you buy and when you can buy it. By taking steps to resolve the tax lien, you can improve your credit rating.

Get your good credit back! Paying your tax debt is not a guarantee that your credit score will improve. Be sure to follow up with the appropriate agencies to ensure an increase in your credit score.

Pay what you owe! Pay your tax debt in full or through a payment plan. Once paid, you must take the necessary steps for the link to be released.

Get rid of the link: The release must be filed with the same county clerk/court office in which the original bond was filed. It is your responsibility to initiate the removal of the link. The IRS will not automatically release a link paid in full.

Get a receipt! Request proof of payment so that the discharge can be sent to the credit bureaus so that they can remove it from your report. Regaining your credit rating is a crucial part of restoring your financial quality of life. Don’t let bad credit burden your current and future financial decisions.
