Black Pearl Leopard Gecko, a successful new breed of Leopard Gecko Morphs

If you are looking for the ultimate unique gecko breeding result, The Black Pearl gecko seems to be the one. This is a very special breed that emerged as a result of the hard work of Konrad Wlodarczyk and his friends, one of the leading leopard gecko breeders from Poland, Europe.

Konrad began his so-called Black Pearl Project in silence with some friends of his. The black gecko is in contrast to the albino gecko, which has been one of the popular geckos for sale. Raising an all-black gecko seems like a great challenge. This is the typical trait of a true breeder, who is always looking to try and spawn new morphs. If many breeders are trying to breed albinos, why not try to breed a black one? Perhaps this was what Konrad had in mind.

Black leopard geckos are in fact the rarest morph that has recently developed. It was in early 2008 that information about successful breeding of black geckos spread to the community and leopard gecko enthusiasts. Despite his successful work, Konrad moved to Australia and handed over the rights to further develop this project to The Urban Gecko, a well-known gecko breeder in Canada owned and operated by Craig and Lori Stewart.

Well, why are black geckos so special? Mainly, of course, its totally black color that has never been seen and imagined by lovers of leopard geckos. When many of the newly reproduced hatchlings possess a lighter and lighter color scheme, this goes in the opposite direction, creating a darker version, even an extremely dark gecko.

From its hatched egg, the baby gecko emerged in an all-black color without any pattern. The mature black gecko appears as extremely black, silky fur. This hypermean color gives a deep and unnerving beauty that has never been seen before. It really is an exclusive breed right now.

Most Black Pearl babies are born extremely black and become slightly lighter in color as they mature, which can be mistaken for a Mack Snow, but with a difference from their fuzzy dark gray pattern. When they reach sexual maturity, their color can change significantly back to a velvety black color.

Another completely melanistic race is the Midnight Blizzard and it was the only completely melanistic transformation in the past. Its melanin pigments appear as a brown skin rather than a black color that is different from Black Pearl with its extreme black color.

Since the introduction of the Black Pearl a few years ago, many breeders have tried to hatch dark melanistic geckos but have failed to achieve satisfactory results. The reason for the failure could be the absence of a gene that can produce dark melanin pigments so complete that they should definitely be the trait of a true black leopard gecko. In such unique and successful breeding cases, knowledge and experience play a huge role.
