The fast-growing German bicycle manufacturer Canyon advises against driving with its new Aeroad model for the time being. He responds to an incident on Tuesday, when cyclist Mathieu Van der Poel saw his steering wheel break off in the full final of the race Le Samyn. Canyon first wants to investigate how that could happen and recommends that professional teams use an alternative model for the time being.
Fortunately Mathieu did not fall. We want to be absolutely sure that nothing happens to anyone until we have a clear idea of the cause, ”says founder Roman Arnold. In addition to Van der Poel, the riders of the Spanish cycling team Movistar also ride Canyon bikes.

It is the second time in a short time that the bicycle brand has been embarrassed by technical defects. Earlier it became known that there were problems with the seatpost of the Aeroad model, which came on the market at the end of last year and was quickly sold out.
