Differences between electronic commerce and electronic commerce

E-Commerce and E-Business are two completely different terms, but unfortunately many of us always use them interchangeably. The reason behind this lies in the meanings of “business” and “commerce” in the English language. But there is a difference between electronic commerce and electronic commerce. There are many people who understand the subtle differences between the two and there has always been a debate between these two groups about the differences and similarities between e-commerce and e-business. The goal of writing this article is to clearly highlight the differences between the two, as they are both completely different phenomena.

The differences between the two are as follows:

1. E-Commerce is the subset of E-Business. If you remember the Venn diagram that you studied in school, then you can very well understand what I am trying to convey. 2. “Electronic commerce” refers to those activities that essentially involve monetary transactions. However, e-business is a much broader term. There are many other things besides selling, including but not limited to merchandising, procurement of raw materials or goods, customer education, sourcing, etc.

3. Selling online is e-commerce, but attracting and retaining customers and educating them about your product or service online is e-commerce. Having a website to do it is not enough. But, it is required to have a professionally built website loaded with the latest technologies to grab the visitor’s attention and gain their recognition. When it comes to money, the first thing the user looks for is the security of his money. Having a website loaded with such qualities is important.

4. When Dell sells computers, laptops, monitors, printers, accessories, etc. online, then you are not engaged in e-commerce but e-commerce. Let me tell you how. When a visitor enters the website, the first thing they see is the design and navigation of the website, as well as the things that will help them find what they are looking for and if they arrive directly at the page they were looking for, they look for the information related to it. The information provided must be attractive and clear the visitor’s doubts as much as possible to convert him into a customer. So far no money has been exchanged or discussed. So was this eCommerce? No, it is the e-business that guides the visitor.

5. Electronic commerce has also been defined as a process that covers external processes that affect customers, suppliers and external partners, while electronic commerce covers internal processes such as production, inventory management, product development, risk management, finance , etc.

In total, electronic commerce can be described as the use of the Internet and the web to transact business. More formally, digitally enabled business transactions between organizations and individuals. On the other hand, electronic commerce can be described as the digital enablement of transactions and processes within a company, involving information systems under the control of the company. Furthermore, e-commerce applications become e-commerce precisely when an exchange of value occurs.
