Do you want to feel happier?

We all have that from time to time: something hits us completely sideways, everything is in the air, spinning around us, we can’t seem to get back to reality, we are not sure whether to cry, scream or just snuggle in bed. .

The time when life was great seems to be forever and we’re not sure how to get back there.

Sometimes we just want something lighthearted so that we feel warm and fuzzy inside. And don’t worry, it’s not all slush, there’s a serious note at the end.

But for now, this is what makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside:

Hugs from someone you love

Curled up in bed when the rain pours outside

A cup of cocoa

Laughing until you can’t breathe

Movies that make you cry.

Movies that make you laugh

Smiling at strangers

Listening to your favorite song on the radio

The beach

The field and vegetation in general

Sun

Snow

Mulled wine (uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!)

Being silly (without the wine!)

Take out an old purse and find money in it.

See someone open a gift from you.

Friends

Your team wins at soccer / rugby / baseball

Telling someone what is wrong, even when you really don’t want to

Greet random strangers as you pass by and see the confused expression on their faces.

Sweet Dreams

Waking up and realizing that you still have a couple of hours to go back to sleep.

Puppies, kittens or other cute animals. (Although I have to say, some of those cheesy emails make me want to puke and hit delete!)

Knowing you’ve done a good job

Helping someone else

Great books

Shoddy Vacation in the Sun Books (Please tell me I’m not the only one who has read a Jackie Collins!)

Do something new and realize that you are pretty good at it.

Breakfast in bed

Oh, I feel better already! Okay, some of these are a little cheesy, but hey, we all need some cheese every now and then, cookies with that?

What makes you smile?

On a slightly more serious note, I am fortunate that when life throws something at me, I can have a terrible time, then I get up and get on with things again. I have not always been this way and a few years ago, I would have sunk and it would have taken me months to get out of depression completely. So if you find yourself in that situation, I can promise you things will get better.

Life will never be easy, but the hard parts can be resolved as quickly as possible and you will be able to feel good again sooner rather than later.
