Eliminate indoor disasters

Hello and welcome to my design thoughts.

With thousands of interior design websites, articles, newsletters, and blogs, is it any wonder home design is confusing? As an artist and designer, it never ceases to amaze me how much fabulous information is available to the curious and motivated owner. And free to boot!

Keeping it simple is a bit more difficult. I have visited many “designer” client homes, just to see the particular brand or style of designers stamped all over the place. How do we keep our homes in the realm of our own personalities?

When you are looking for a design or designer, first look at their product. Talk to past clients. View designers’ work in your private space. It works? Or could you have done a better job on your own and much less expensive?

I have designed many different styles. Each one as individual as the client himself. How do you do this? First, you have to do your homework. A customer who says, “Do what you want, I trust you and I’ll be back from Bermuda in six weeks” could be a customer I choose to stay away from.

I will not set my personal style at a client’s home. Your home should and should reflect your personality and uniqueness. With enthusiasm and motivation, create something entirely your own, you can learn to build a truly impressive environment on your own.

Magazines, websites, and other design data can be your best friend. You’ve done it before, I can see the two of us browsing magazines, pulling out cool stuff, and making loads … This is your start to discovering your personal style.

Build a book with these pictures. Study each image. Circle the idea or image that caught your attention. Put tons of images into categories. that is, living room, bathroom, family, kitchen. Then go back and delete the images that may not be as attractive. Keep only the best. Eventually you will discover what you love, be it color, shape, size, or style name. My personal style is called European Recycled … No kidding.

Keep your first test and run easily. Paint is the least expensive repeat and packs an amazing punch. A new coat of paint is magic. Interior design can be a simple act of rearrangement or clutter.

Find your magic. Love where you live. make it a peaceful and creative environment of your own.
