How to Start an Online Business: How to Get a FREE Traffic Wave!

I hear people wondering all the time: “How do you start an online business?”

In this article, you will learn about:

  • The different types of traffic.
  • Why some traffic sources are better than others.
  • How to make sure you attract as much FREE traffic as possible.
  • Traffic sources to avoid like the plague.

The first thing to understand when embarking on your Internet journey is that the Internet is all about information. When you do a search, say about growing tomatoes, it is no coincidence that the first page of the search engine response is
exactly about growing tomatoes, not cucumbers or a sale to growers.

This is exactly the same with any search term. This search term match with the exact better The website that responds to the search term has made some people very rich.

There are many sources of traffic:

  • Solo ads are ads that you pay for people to put your ad on their mailing list. The traffic you get can be lukewarm.
  • Pinterest pins are free or you can pay for promoted ads. This traffic is highly concentrated.
  • Facebook ads are pretty cheap, but you have to really know what you’re doing to get your ads accepted.
  • Google AdWords are the small advertisements that you see on various websites. They are profitable and generally offer interesting traffic to buy.

There are quite a few other sources of traffic, but for this discussion I will focus on FREE traffic from search engines.

There is more than one reason to understand what search engines are looking for when evaluating your website to send you organic (free) traffic. They have many criteria for judging a site.

  • How many pages does it have on various aspects of the main theme of the site?
  • How long the average visitor stays on the site. (The longer they stay, the more useful information they should get and therefore the higher quality your site should be.).
  • How many inbound links go to your site. The more other sites link to yours, it usually means that they see your site as a peer site or as an authority site on your topic. (This is pure gold for you)
  • Does your site sell unknown stuff (maybe risky stuff) or do they offer quality links like Amazon or eBay?
  • Apparently they have hundreds of things they are looking for, but they are hidden in the search engine’s secret algorithms.

Traffic sources to avoid are those that offer tons of traffic for next to nothing. They usually have very low quality traffic and you have a high chance that search engines will ban your site. This is bad news.

Some places offer content turning software so you can create content for your site very quickly. These should be avoided like Ebola because they take a simple piece of text and “spin” it in so many different ways. What you end up with is a terrible text. Search engines can smell a rat and declare your site a bad place to submit for free or even paid traffic.

Search engines are all about the quality of the content on your site. They even judge you when you buy traffic. If your site has a poor page rank, they will charge you more for the traffic they send you than if your site ranks high for the quality of its content.

How to start an online business? Always keep in mind what your visitor is looking for.

An excellent example of this was someone who had an excellent site on anxiety attacks. He wrote an excellent e-book on the subject, but no one was buying it. His main topic was how to deal with an anxiety attack.

Desperate, he surveyed his visitors. She discovered that what they were looking for was NOT how to cure an anxiety attack, but “AM I HAVING AN ANXIETY ATTACK?”

You rewrote the e-book to meet the real needs of your visitors and your e-book is selling fast.

Traffic is the lifeblood of your site. Make sure to attract traffic that looks for exactly what you have to offer.
