What few people know is that this city was not always as dazzling as it is today.

Las Vegas was a place long before anyone even thought of building a casino. The area dates back to 1827, but casinos didn’t appear until the 20th century. During that time, the US Army had an artillery school in the city that attracted many soldiers. Prostitution was legal, and soldiers visited the city to have fun with the girls. When the army forced the city to ban prostitution, gambling became a favorite hobby for many soldiers. City officials realized that they could make a lot of money by providing a place for soldiers to gamble.

Eventually, gambling is big business in the city. Everyone wanted a piece of the action. In fact, many organized crime families were instrumental in helping establish the city. Many people don’t realize this today, but in the 1950s the mob largely controlled the city.

Today, Las Vegas is almost as family-friendly as Disney World. You may not believe it, but it’s true. Many fun things can be done with the family when they visit the city. Many exciting shows are safe for the whole family. The magic shows are among some of the most popular in the city.

If you’re looking for a great vacation spot, it makes sense to visit Las Vegas at least once in your life.
