Men have finally realized that they should do more than just fund the Mother’s Day gifts children receive. More and more men are buying gifts for their wives on Mother’s Day, and while that’s a healthy trend, what’s alarming is that they buy gifts for Mother’s Day in the same way that they buy birthday gifts. Needless to say, men have managed to make gifts that don’t hit the mark.

Electronics and tools

It’s not okay to get women’s hardware regardless of the occasion. Men argue that some women like these things, but even the roughest women like to be pampered. Remember that the goal of Mother’s Day is to make her feel good about herself. A shiny new tool for the garage won’t do that.

Cookware

This rule applies whenever you need to give a woman a gift, never give her anything that says her place is in the kitchen. Even something as trivial as a table napkin set won’t work. This day does not require a romantic gift, but that does not mean that you can give your wife something that is completely thoughtless. The only acceptable gift related to cooking is food, and that’s only if she doesn’t have to cook it. Try Mother’s Day gift baskets or Mother’s Day fruit bouquets.

Something for the kids

Many men will give their wives something that is actually for children. This mainly happens when the children are still babies and the boys cannot avoid buying a soccer uniform for the baby. Moms like to dress up their kids, but that doesn’t mean you make it their gift. Make sure the gift is for your use and not for someone else.

A fun gift

Funny gifts are perhaps the most complicated of all, you know your wife likes to laugh. In fact, when she’s upset, it’s your job to cheer her up, but the question is, why doesn’t she like the fun gifts you give her? This has more to do with the type of gift you are expecting than what you like or dislike. If you’re expecting something nice and sentimental, maybe a little alone time, then a plastic clown squirting water at you won’t be welcomed. Try to find the right occasion / holiday to give her a fun gift and get her something nice and appropriate for this particular one and save the prank gifts for later.
