MotoGP: Marc Marquez will not participate in the first two races of the season

The six-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez will not participate in the first two Grand Prix of the season on the Losail circuit (Qatar) in MotoGP. The Spanish rider announced on Monday that he was not yet fully recovered from his fractured humerus he sustained last season.

Marquez, 28, had previously missed pre-season testing at Losail last weekend to focus on his revalidation. The Spaniard fractured his humerus last season after falling during the first Grand Prix of the 2020 season in Jerez on July 19.

“After a final examination with my medical team, they advised me not to participate in the two Grand Prix in Qatar and to continue my revalidation to be competitive as soon as possible”, wrote the Honda rider on Twitter.

The MotoGP season kicks off Sunday with the Qatar Grand Prix at the Losail circuit which will also host the Doha Grand Prix on Sunday April 4.
