My two rescue cats got into everything

When left alone, cats will play with things that are not for cats. Have you ever shredded your toilet paper into a gigantic mess? Have you ever found your car keys under the couch when you were absolutely sure you left them on the table? Have you ever seen your window blinds used as a ladder?

Visiting the local animal shelter looking for a new addition to the family, there were two kittens from the same litter still waiting for adoption. Long after his brothers and mother were adopted there, they begged me to take them home. After hugging them and playing with them I couldn’t resist and they came home. Being young cats, they were mischievous and kept me busy every day. They were literally into everything. Let’s see, toilet paper was reduced to a daily shredded mess. Car keys had to be kept in a drawer. They found items from (who knows where) that had been reported lost eons ago. They even found a way to use the window blinds as ladders!

They needed cat toys to entertain themselves and stay out of trouble. Someone told me about an online store that sold all kinds of cat toys. Not knowing what kind of toy would entertain them the most, I selected some of the toys in bulk. The toys arrived very quickly and they were delighted. They spend countless hours churning these things together and sometimes they each play with their own toy until they are exhausted and then a short nap is just to wake up and go back to those cat toys.

The stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator have been turned into a toy bank. Countless toys have been hit under these appliances. Those little mice go straight to the back of any waiting appliance and pile up like crazy. When they sit in front of the dishwasher with that “look” on their faces, I know the appliance has eaten some precious mouse or ball. They don’t stop looking at me until I pull out their favorite toy with a yardstick. While I’m at it, I find dozens of other toys that have also found their way under. Their little faces light up when I take all these things out, it’s like Christmas when they see all those toys that were lost and forgotten!

About once a month I order a few more toys so they have a variety of things to play with. Bulk Toys offer a wide variety of toys and are inexpensive.

They have adjusted very well to their new home, they love their toys and luckily they have fun with their toys instead of getting into other things. The toilet paper is now safe and intact, the car keys are no longer interesting enough. Window shutters now collect dust instead of being used as stairs. It’s amazing that cat toys now grab their attention and they no longer have an interest in things they shouldn’t be playing with.
