Nigeria: Top 5 Dead Traps Motorists And Travelers Should Avoid This Ember Months-ACC Joshua Ibitomi

In Nigeria, the months of embers start from September to December every year. I don’t know about other parts of the world.

But, with Christmas and New Years just around the corner, these months are life and death for some people. It’s fine with Nigeria. It’s okay with our world.

May love, peace, unity, happiness, progress rule our world this festive period and always.

For some criminally minded people, it is time to reap where they did not sow. The truth is that the police in our beloved country are fully aware of this.

Take it or leave it, the police in Nigeria cannot work miracles. Police officers under command structures will do the best they can, given the prevailing circumstances.

For others, it is a time for sober reflections, sharing love, gifts and prayers for all humanity. God bless those who think in this direction.

Crime is always on the rise, traffic is always hectic, however, some Trunk A like Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Lagos-Apapa Expressway are in poor condition.

This may have motivated Federal Highway Safety Corps (FRSC) unit commander ACC Joshua Ibitomi to drop the five dead traps motorists and travelers need to avoid to stay alive during the upcoming festive session.

Speaking on the topic: “Road safety is a state of mind, traffic accident is absence of mind, stay alive” during the corps’ 2019 Ember Month campaign flag throw, Ibitomi mentioned cheating as : Dangerous driving, use of alcohol, overloading, speeding and use of defective tires.

ACC Ibitomi, who is the RS2.27 unit commander for the Ifo unit command in Ogun state, said that since the last four months of each year are usually characterized by an increase in business activities, which leads to the general movement of goods and services, with high volumes of traffic, motorists and travelers must be careful when using the road.

His words: “Our market men and women should also stop displaying and spreading their wares along the street on market days, as it could result in the traders being run over by reckless or motorists, whose brake has failed.”

The inauguration drive held at the Ifo market along the Lagos-Abeokuta highway in Ifo, Ogun State, was attended by police, the Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corps, students from the St George Group of Schools, officers of the State Security Service, DSS, members of the Red Cross Society, members of the National Youth Corps Service and members and officials of the various transport unions in the state.
