Occupied? Walk Clinic is the solution

Do you remember the old days? White coats, bright lights, scented latex, listening every time the hands of the clock moved. Someone would take you to the doctor’s office for a checkup and then you’d be rewarded with a lollipop for your patience. That was the end. Nowadays it is quite difficult to simply schedule an appointment. With all the things you have to do, why not try going to the clinic?

Did you ever feel like childhood was so much easier? More space, more freedom and more time. As adults, our schedules are packed: getting up, showering, making breakfast, feeding the dog, dressing for work, taking the kids to school, going to work, going home, picking up the kids, grocery shopping, preparing dinner, pack lunch, walk the dog, wash the dishes, take out the garbage, tuck in the kids, go back to bed.

Add in the weekly laundry, house cleaning, phone calls, family visits, random hangouts with friends, work emergencies, etc. and you are officially booked. Now try to schedule your next doctor’s appointment. Do they tell you to wait a week, two, three, or even a month afterward? And once you’re there, how much longer do you have to wait to be seen?

Forget programming and remember leisure! Time is precious just the way it is and should not be wasted. As Doug Larson says, “For disappearing acts, it’s hard to top what happens to the supposed eight hours left after eight sleep and eight work.” Often, we work almost to death trying to fit everything into the week and then end up sick from stressing about it. However, there is no time for rest yet and we swallow all the medicine we can find in the cold corridor. Thoughts blur, focus is lost, and the temperature rises. Before you know it, you can have an accident more serious than a common cold.

Outpatient clinics are essential for those sudden scratches, scrapes, or burns, and may even offer you something to cure that cold faster. Availability and convenience are written into the definition and appointments can be scheduled on the same day with immediate attention. There’s no waiting for the secretary to schedule an appointment two weeks later or waiting in the ER for “immediate help” two hours later.

In the past, when we were children, we had no responsibilities. Everything was prepared for us and all we had to do was follow what they told us. And for that we got a lollipop as a reward. As adults, we need to plan everything. Even our free time is occupied in planning our plans. By then, you know your schedule is definitely overloaded. Don’t let that translate to your health too.

Walk-in clinics will save you money and time, with the added benefit of friendly service. For those minor injuries, burns or illnesses, you can get the immediate care you’re looking for without those frustrating delays.
