Some Cold and Flu Remedies Passed on to Me by a Wiccan Witch

It’s that time of year again colds and flu are just around the corner, of course according to me I never get a cold it’s always the flu.

These are just some homemade recipes passed down by my good cousin, she is a Wicca witch, but don’t worry, these ladies are not the scary witches you see in the movies.

She does not live in the country in a shack, much less does she reside in a block of flats in my hometown.

We never buy any of the cold and flu remedies at the pharmacy, instead we use the natural pharmacy.

Obviously, if your symptoms don’t improve after a few days, it may be time to visit your doctor.

1. Onion and honey cough syrup.

This is not really a cough medicine as such because you could put it directly on potatoes or your favorite vegetables. But personally I like to take it by the spoonful as many times as necessary.

Cooking this mixture could not be easier, in a small saucepan chop a yellow skin onion, add a cup of honey and a tablespoon of thyme, as much as you want if you can get it fresh, cook until the onion is soft, that is work done.

Research has shown that onions and garlic irritate the lining of the stomach, which in turn forces the lungs to release a secretion that thins the thick mucus that makes you feel sick.

Peeling onions makes your eyes water, this is the same action that works, but it is getting rid of the sticky mucus in the lungs.

2. Thyme is an ancient remedy, it is boiled with a little honey and drunk as an infusion, effective against laryngitis.

3. I remember an old remedy that my dear mother used to us when we were children to relieve cough.

Chop an onion, place it in the oven to warm up, then wrap it in a cloth, make sure it’s not too hot, and place it directly on the chest, if you’re using this on a child, it may help to tape it down.

The fumes from the onion will stop any cough dead in its tracks, comment on the bedroom well and you’ll stink the next day, but hey, you’ve had a good night’s sleep.

4. Lemons and honey are another great remedy, squeeze a couple of hot lemons with a teaspoon of honey, and drink the mixture, this is a great way to help soothe sore throats.

5. Another Wicca remedy I’ve tried and would rather have the flu, take some fresh or dried elderflowers, boil them and make a tea, drink hot. Good luck with this one, I’ve never tasted anything like it, totally disgusting.

This seems a bit strange to me, it has nothing to do with Wicca, I don’t know how it works but it worked for me.

Although I think you should perhaps get medical advice before attempting this, as I am not responsible, I am just passing on the information.

There’s been research done, I think many years ago, that says cold and flu bugs enter through the ears.

This is certainly not what we have been taught, remember all the ads and billboards? Coughs and sneezes spread diseases, yes, as far as we know, we inhale these insects.

Although I am convinced that this remedy works, I am not prepared to put my name, but the information is available if you need it.

But the best remedy of all is to go to bed for a couple of days, wrap up warm, and have someone chase you.

Convince them that alcohol is the perfect cure and have them make you some hot punch, read a good book and get plenty of sleep.
