speak only the word

You have probably read this passage in your Bible in Matthew 8:8, The centurion answered and said: Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof; but say only the word, and my servant will be healed. NIV

“Speak only the word,” I believe the Lord would say those same words to us today in 2007, “Speak only the word when we are sick. Speak only the word and you will be healed.” If we live in scarcity and debt, He would surely tell us: “Speak only the Word and receive supernatural provision and freedom from your debt.”

Jesus told us clearly in Matthew 4:4, but he answered and said: It is written: Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. KJV Every word…speaks only the Word, that’s how we should live.

Speaking only the Word of God is how we experience supernatural results on a regular basis. God showed us how to do it when he said, “Let there be light.” And there was a light that dispelled all the darkness. There was enough power in the word of God to create the world.

What if God had said, “Wow, it’s really dark out there.” What do you think would have happened? It would have stayed dark. See, God knew the power of his words and although he could see the darkness, he also knew that in order to have light he had to say: “Let there be light.”

How about your world? Are you speaking only the Word or are you looking at what is staring you in the face? If you don’t like what you see, don’t say that, rather speak the Word of God only that it has power to change everything and I mean everything you see.

Mary, the Mother of our Lord, spoke to the angel announcing the conception of Jesus: “Be it done to me according to your Word”. She said this even though in her mind she didn’t fully understand how it could happen. Then immediately after he had spoken, the power of the Holy Spirit came upon her and she conceived and the Word of God became flesh. How powerful is that? Having said: “Let it be done according to your Word”, and immediately the Word became flesh in her womb.

Speaking the Word of God can only have the same effect in our lives, if we continue to do it day by day. They also bring us supernatural provision, healing or help of any kind that we need at any time.

Father Abraham was our Father of faith. He lived by faith and was our example of living by faith. God changed his name from Abram to Abraham, which means father of nations or father of a multitude, he had to pronounce that name only. Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be to introduce yourself, “Hello, I’m Abraham,” and the person responds, “Oh, how many children do you have?” And he didn’t have any children at that time at all. But he knew if he pronounced that name, Abraham, only; then he could have the multitude as God had promised.

The Bible tells us in Rom 4:19-21 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his body already dead, when he was about a hundred years old, nor the sterility of Sarah’s womb: 20 He did not doubt God’s promise because of unbelief; but he was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully convinced that what he had promised, he was also powerful to fulfill.

That is faith, and faith is considering only and speaking only what the Word of God says about us. We need to find those scriptures that reveal to us “who we are in Christ Jesus” and talk about them only. That would bring powerful results.

One thing I see happen if we say negative words about ourselves; we will obtain the negative results of those words that will be what we do not want. That is the power of our words. But again, if we speak the Word of God only day by day; we are opening the door to the supernatural in our lives as did the centurion, Mary, Abraham and our Lord.

Speak the Word only. We’re going to be speaking some kind of words every day either way. So why not just speak the Word of God and get the results of the Word, which are supernatural results?
