Teaching your parrot tricks

When you want to buy parrot birds, it is best to consider the type that you will get. Each species has its pros and cons. But when you buy a parrot, you are sure to be in for a treat. Parrots are known for being smart. They can do tricks, repeat words and much more. It’s no wonder why so many people enjoy having them around.

But just teaching them for the sake of doing tricks is missing the point. You can use tricks and tricks as a way to discipline your pet parrot. Of course it’s entertaining, but the general idea is to discipline them to do tricks. You could also use it to get your pet to behave better. It takes more than repeating words in front of the bird to teach it. In fact, you must have a pet that is “pre-trained” or conditioned to be trained. Start with simple and basic commands. For parrots, the “Step Up” command is the simplest. Train your pet to climb on its perch or your finger on command. Do this by placing your finger in front of the hanger and saying the words “Step Up.” Reward with food if the bird does well.

Flipping is another trick that can be taught. Teaches the bird to turn around on command. Show a piece of food and then say the words “turn over.” As the bird reaches for the food, move it back so it turns around.

Training birds requires patience as it is not that easy. You need to repeat their behavior many times. It is required to maintain a positive and calm attitude so that you can understand what you want. You and the bird have to work together. Start with the simplest and increase the difficulty little by little.

If you want to buy parrots that already know tricks you can. But the best companion bird is one that you have trained on your own. By training, you may learn a thing or two yourself.
