The Butterfly Park in Dubai is a delight

As usual, Dubai evokes something special and the latest addition to the tourist scene is the Butterfly Park. The park just opened a few weeks ago and it is an absolute delight. Since my American girl is here, I thought it would be a good idea to show her around the park. She confessed that there is nothing like this park in America and I can swear that there is not a single similar park in India. Frankly, such a park should have been opened in India, particularly in Shillong, which is home to some of the most beautiful butterfly species.

Dubai Park is close to the Miracle Garden, another must-see in Dubai. I have already written about the miraculous garden. We left Abu Dhabi, in my car, and covered the distance in just over an hour. Since the weather was cool, I lowered the hood of my Mustang and the cool breeze cooled us down. We drove straight to the park, which is the newest attraction along with the Garden of Lights.

The Butterfly Park is a feather in the cap of Dubai’s tourism industry. I don’t know how much it cost, but I’m sure it would have cost a lot. The park creates a magical world of fairies, goblins and goblins. My little girl loved it as we entered an ethereal world. The park is spread over 4000 square meters and is housed in 3 large domes, which are temperature controlled.

The park opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. The entrance fee is 50 AED, which is equivalent to about 950 rupees. It seems expensive to an Indian, but for the pleasure he gives, the price is quite good. Once you enter the park, you are introduced to the world of butterflies. The park has about 2,600 species of butterflies from all over the world. The interior decoration simulates the world of butterflies, which are from all over the world. But I feel that more information about butterflies and their species is needed. As you make your way through the park and sit on the many benches inside, the butterflies will come and perch on you, your hand or whatever, and this in itself is an absolute delight. A variety of trained staff take care of the butterflies and lovers and children find it delightful.

Butterflies are hovering over you and you can easily spend a couple of hours watching them. I was reminded of Shillong, who had so many butterflies floating around because the weather suited them. Here the climate inside the domes is controlled and natural flowers and a garden add to the ecology of the park. Obviously, many studies have been carried out before this park came into existence and the result is something that is not normally seen.

Dubai is now a mega metropolis rivaling London and New York and last year its airport handled 61 million passengers. Such exotic parks add to the brilliance of the city and my American friend confessed to me that the park was one of a kind.

Attached to the park is a small museum and a souvenir shop. The souvenir shop sells butterflies framed in glass boxes, which can be hung on the wall or simply kept on a table. I remember that in Shillong this was a prosperous business, but the government stopped it. I am not in favor of selling framed butterflies, as it is a form of cruelty. Other souvenirs such as photos and trinkets can also be chosen. My friend bought some of them, but not the framed butterflies.

Attached to the park is an excellent cafe, serving snacks as well as hot and cold tea or coffee. No alcohol, of course, and that’s a good thing. As I held my friend’s hand with the butterflies fluttering around us, I could feel a magical moment creating. I don’t think any visitor to the park can leave and not be affected by the glorious atmosphere and enchanting world of butterflies. It is unique and I will recommend a visit to anyone who comes here. I wonder why in India we can’t create such exotic places.

Dubai’s butterfly park is a cause for joy and shows a pragmatic and progressive minimal set. It is also a place to rekindle a long lost love story. These places reinforce Dubai’s status as a world tourism hub.
