The smart approach towards message handling makes Gmail the most popular of email services. Gmail’s smart spam filtering algorithm keeps your inbox clean from almost all spam and unwanted emails. You can make your inbox cleaner with smart filtering options.

With Gmail filters, you can effectively control the flow of incoming messages, using the combination of keywords, sender/recipient email ID, etc., you can automatically label, archive, delete, star or forward emails to keep them even out of your spam folder.

How to block a sender

1. Click the “create a filter” link near your Gmail search bar.

2. In the next window, you can define your filter rules, sender email ID, recipients, subject, keywords, etc. If you want to block email from multiple senders, please separate the email ids with “|” (Shift back slash) i.e. [email protected]|[email protected]. If you want to block email from an entire domain, enter the site’s address in the “From” field. Click Next.

3. Choose the action to take on messages that match the criteria you specified. You can archive, mark as read, star, apply a label, forward to email id, delete or skip spam.

If you select the “delete” option, the filtered messages will be deleted automatically, it won’t even go to the spam folder. Then click “Create Filter”.

Remember: This method will not prevent the sender from sending mail, at least you can avoid reading the mail.
