What is the curve of the penis?

It is not abnormal to have a slight curve in the penis. In fact, most men have a slightly curved penis to one side. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, and for most men, it doesn’t stop the man from having penetrative sex. However, in some people there is a condition called Peyronie’s disease. Men suffering from this disease have very large curvatures of their penises, so much so that penetrative sex becomes difficult for them. It is in this case that the curves of the penis must be surgically corrected.

Any deviation of the male penis from the straight position can be called a penile curve. The penis is a very flexible organ, so it can bend in any position. It can be tilted to the right or left, or even up and down. Even among people with penile curves, there are different degrees of curves.

The human penis is about 5.5 to 7.5 inches long on average when erect. Of course, there are men with penises on both sides of this scale. Most of the penis is spongy tissue called the corpus cavernosum. The corpus cavernosum contains two canals of spongy tissues that run along both sides of the penis. In healthy men, both canals of the spongy tissues grow equally, and the penis becomes straight. However, if for some reason one channel of the corpus cavernosum grows larger than the other, then the penis would tilt to the other side.

This usually occurs during an injury. In men who have accidents on one side of the penis, the spongy tissues on that side may not grow properly. This would lead to a fall on the other side. Even wearing tight underwear can cause irreparable damage to the penis and cause it to take on an unnatural curve. Men who indulge in very rough sex can damage their penises. An example of this is the incorrect use of the woman in the top position. This position has the potential for the penis to slip out frequently and this could tear some of the ligaments. Anal sex is also responsible for the curves of the penis.

The above are some of the mechanical factors that cause penile curves. However, penile curves can also be due to biological factors. Peyronie’s disease is one of the most important causal factors. Peyronie’s disease is a condition in which a scar develops on one side of the penis for no apparent reason. This stops the growth of the penis on that particular side and thus the penis starts to fall off the other side. In young boys, there may be curves in the penis for unexplained reasons. These are congenital defects, which must be corrected in the younger days. Contrary to popular belief, masturbation does not cause curves in the penis. However, if there is an injury during masturbation, as might happen when a young boy experiments with his penis in the early days of puberty, then penile curves could develop later in life.

Generally speaking, a moderate curve of the penis is not a problem for men. Curved penises can be used quite effectively for sexual penetration and are not a problem for either of you. There is also no relationship between the curves of the penis and impotence. Penis curves are only a cosmetic issue and do not interfere with the male reproductive system in any way.

Nowadays, curves of the penis are mainly treated with surgical methods. This is corrective tissue surgery and therefore must be performed in the hands of a very skilled surgeon. If the curvature of the penis is caused by a retained scar from injury or Peyronie’s disease, then the method used is to inject Verapamil into the scar. This medicine causes the scar to heal on its own. Healing of the scar in most cases corrects the curvature of the penis.

Men are also increasingly using natural herbs and their extracts to treat their curved penises. The efficacy of these herbs is still being tested by major pharmaceutical companies in advanced countries, and most of them have shown positive results. The immensely popular Ayurvedic preparation known as Shilajit is one of the effective alternative methods in use. Other herbs that have shown promising results include Panax ginseng, Ashwagandha, and Ginkgo biloba.

Curvature of the penis to some extent is a very natural male phenomenon and may not need any correction. In fact, various tailors would design the pants to accommodate the curved penis. Therefore, it is not a big problem. The curvature of the penis would need correction for cosmetic reasons only, although women don’t really have a problem with curved penises, or for medical reasons, such as if the penis is too curved for penetrative sex. Otherwise, the best method is to leave the penis as it is, as it won’t be a problem now or in the future.
