What to know before buying a leopard gecko

Almost every day I receive emails from frustrated leopard gecko owners who have purchased sick or sick leopard geckos. So, to help other first-time leopard gecko owners choose happy, healthy pets, I’ve come up with this list of questions to ask the dealer before you buy.

Questions to ask the dealer before buying:

o What is the age of the leopard gecko?

o What is the sex of the gecko?

o How do you house your geckos?

o What food do you offer your geckos?

o How much do they eat?

o Are you feeding the geckos vitamin supplements along with their food?

o Have you had any current or previous health problems with your leopard geckos?

o Will I be able to contact you if I have a problem or question regarding my new leopard gecko?

If you are not satisfied with any or all of the answers, you may want to reconsider purchasing your leopard gecko from that specific dealer.
