Many organizational groups are quite appreciative of the developments within TOGAF and many of the largest business groups are following suit. And the Togaf Certification is now being actively sought after by many business professionals.

Interesting, you will say, but what is this TOGAF?

TOGAF stands for The Open Group Architecture Framework and, broadly speaking, it enables the optimized design, implementation, and monitoring of the best framework for an organization or business.

The basic fundamental foundation of TOGAF is the ADM or Architecture Development Method. This is a recognized process for designing an IT business structure that meets the growing needs of a business.

The open group architecture framework is just that: a framework.

It comprises an exact method and a set of vital supporting tools that can be used to form an enterprise architecture system. TOGAF is accessible for use, without obstruction, by any commercial or other organization wishing to develop an enterprise architecture.

It was developed by members of The Open Group, working within the Architecture Forum.

The main creation of TOGAF Version 1 in 1995 was based on the Technical Architecture Framework for Information Management (TAFIM), issued by the US Department of Defense.

This government department allowed The Open Group specific permission and assisted the TOGAF currency by building on top of the TAFIM. The latter arose due to many years of investment and development by the United States government.

Using this firm and rigorous foundation as a starting point, members of the Open Group Architecture Forum have produced successive versions of TOGAF each year. These annual editions are made available on the official Open Group website for interested parties to read.

Many business professionals are now seeking TOGAF certification to enhance their business careers. It is now considered an indispensable qualification and is likely to become more and more required.

The TOGAF certification program is aimed at architecture service providers and tool providers. It helps them demonstrate, for example, that their services or products are generally supported by the enterprise architect using ADM. It’s critical to note that ADM complements and can also be used in conjunction with all major frameworks.

The TOGAF certification program has been used by individuals, trainers, professional service providers, and for tool support.

To their credit, The Open Group architecture framework, TOGAF, and TOGAF ADM have been constantly improved and developed since the mid-1990s by The Open Group Architecture Forum.

This forum is made up of senior representatives from many of the world’s leading IT vendors and customers from commercial and non-commercial organizations.
