Ahamefule – A passionate plea

Ahamefule is a name of someone that means “My name must not be lost” or, rather, “Preserve the legacy”. It is a name of the Nigerians of Igbo extraction. It is a passionate plea that reminds all the Dicks and Harry that the name they bear is very important and as a result should be preserved accordingly.

Africans know what it means to preserve a name and therefore they do their best to achieve it. In traditional Africa, whenever a man takes a wife and as time passes the woman is discovered to be sterile, efforts are made to divorce her to make way for another woman, who would produce children for the man. If the woman had daughters, which means that they would soon marry and adopt another man’s name, arrangements would be made to marry another woman or leave one of the daughters at her father’s house (i.e. not give her away in marriage ), so that she can have children who respond to their father’s name. In cases of impotence, the man secretly enters into an agreement with another man who would be doing the work of a man to his wife, thus preserving his name through the children that would be produced.

Thanks to this word, AHAMEFULE, people can do anything legitimate or illegitimate to feel like they belong. Apart from the Igbo people of Nigeria, God gave each being a divine command not to abandon His ways. Those who do well to preserve the legacy are honored, and as a result, people have been fighting to be in God’s good book so that their names are not lost. But no matter how we try, at one point or another, man has always tried to go his own way, regardless of what God says. According to biblical stories, the land of Egypt at one time witnessed the tearing of what was created at creation by a strange hand, because Pharaoh wanted to make a name for himself – the Pharaoh who resisted God’s move! And he paid dearly for it. The reaction / punishment that followed was what Pharaoh needed to recognize God’s greater power, because no storm had wasted proud Egypt as much as God’s storm.

Egypt, having held a prominent place in history, completely forgot where they came from, even to the point of having a king who did not know Joseph, a man who had interpreted the dream of a previous king and then developed and administered the Egypt famine preparation program. Without Joseph, Egypt could have been devastated by a devastating seven-year famine. God used him to save Egypt and made her grow stronger to the level of helping other nations, however, Egypt forgot about history and chose a king who had nothing to do with Joseph and his God.

There are so many nations of the world today, like Egypt, that was destined for world leadership under the direction of Almighty God. There is no doubt that God richly blessed these nations because of the righteous principles on which they were founded. With all the government that is working in many of these nations, interested in almost everything that the people do, these nations seem to be intoxicated with the deadly poison of sin. At the root of sin is the absence of true parents in our world. The problem of sin is a problem of fatherhood, because sin is the result of one man, Adam, declaring his independence from God, his Source and Father. Adam believed that he did not need a father and that he could be a father without the Father. It was then that the human race rebelled against God and, as a result, man could be considered a “fatherless” because of his choice. Imagine being an orphan by choice, homeless by choice, etc. So tragic! Could this be the story of your beloved nation? I asked him why all the laws that his country could enact cannot free a man or a woman from sin. When legislators tried to enact a law, a bill that prohibits speaking out against homosexuality in many of our countries today, did their fear increase, as did mine? He was concerned that that law alone could have put the majority of the world’s population in prison for violating it. I mean people who prefer to obey God rather than men; people who cannot bear or tolerate certain ungodly acts that are creeping into today’s societies unsuspectingly.

Without a doubt, the world is a beautiful place with many good things that make you jealous of all its inhabitants. Many of these nations of the world are founded on righteous principles, but sinful men have joined the government, some of them are openly gay, working day and night to propose and even work harder to pass evil laws. These men do not know, or rather are careless about the pious or righteous principles on which these nations were founded, equivalent to the king of Egypt who did not know Joseph.

Many of us have come to the place where God is not even allowed in sporting events, schools, and government buildings, but in prisons. You can worship God whenever you want in jail. You can take whatever religion you want. In fact, the government has to provide religion to inmates in prisons. They give them New Testament Bibles, but nevertheless prohibit people from bringing those Bibles to schools for whatever reason, it may be that God is not allowed in schools so that he has no place in the hearts of children. Imagine male mothers manipulating God’s absolutes.

Today, atheists in are even defying the Pledge of Allegiance in many countries. In many places, ninety percent of the people are against removing the pious phrases that are embedded in coins, buildings, public schools, etc. of their countries. The surprising thing is that judges and legislators often listen to the 10 percent, but no one is sure if an activist judge will not put their stamp of approval on it, one day, if it comes out. It was in this generation that a man woke up one morning accusing and suing God in a court of law. The man, who for 38 years in a row, has been a senator for the state of his country. He accused God of causing death, destruction and terrorism.

His accusation suggests that people have the right of an attorney to accuse God in any case. People should sue God every time they lose a loved one, especially as a result of drug overuse. People should sue God for failing elections; from being injured under the influence of alcohol, etc., because God made all things, good or bad. It may be that the man wanted the trial judge to take God to his court, sentence him, and then imprison or hang him. It still puzzles me exactly what he really wanted. Was he trying to immortalize his name by simply trying to challenge God to a duel? That’s an insult. Men can do or say anything once they have a chance to fill their stomachs with bottles of alcohol and a plate of food. Isn’t it shameful that many intimidating university libraries in some countries are filled with all kinds of books, except the Book of Books: The Bible? You don’t dare to find a copy, not even in the reference sections.

When bad practices increase, the separation between good and evil becomes blurred and, as a result, people question this and that, hoping to get their way on everything. A nation that is based on godly principles and values does not throw morality on dogs. In one of the African countries, a man who stood out for his controversial lifestyle was accused of divorcing his 19-year-old wife whom he married at 17 to settle with a 13-year-old girl. As a legislator, this man was part of the group that enacted the Children’s Rights Law, which prohibits marriage with underage women. Today, this same man hides under the cloaks of religion that absolves him of any crime, but continues to serve civil society, not a religious group. While governor of a state, he forced his people to employ a culture of dressing modestly, regardless of age, and he did well to come to terms with his perceived adversaries quickly, without going to court to seek loopholes. However, through the courts, many people have unleashed a flood of sin upon their nation. At this time, babies can be killed under the protection of the law, against God’s express command: “You shall not kill” (Exodus 20:13).

Marriage, which is God’s will for man, has been discredited to the point where couples live together before marriage, and divorce is gradually becoming the norm. The feminist movement, which opposes God’s standard that a woman submit to her husband, is not helping things. A married woman should know that God planted her in the house to take care of it, keep the house clean, put food on the table, wash the clothes and make the beds, not to roam the whole neighborhood. In a home, parents take proper care of their children and do not raise them in daycare, because the home is meant to be a haven for children.

The enemy of our lives, Satan, is seriously fighting against all that is good in us, even in our nation; so we have to fight him and not give in to his antics or tricks. Like the men who founded many of the world’s great nations, we too must never give up, but rather move forward and ascend toward our final rewards, so that our names are not lost. We must remember that justice exalts a nation, but sin is a shame to any people, so we must learn anew to walk on the righteous principles on which our great nations were built. God demands obedience from one hundred percent of us; we cannot be his children and behave like orphans by continually disobeying him. Our attitudes should not show us as orphans or bastards: we have a Father who loves us and cares about us. Therefore, we are against the evil tendencies of Satan against us and our nations because we are not descended from the blues – we have an origin; now and in the future. God bless the world, over and over again.
