China’s Yang Jiayu breaks the 20km walk world record

The old record belonged since 2015 to the Chinese Liu Hong in 1 h 24 min 38 sec.

Yan Jiayu, world champion in 2017, won the national title by beating Liu Hong (1 h 24 min 27 sec), Olympic gold medalist in 2016 and at the Doha Worlds in 2019.

Among men, Chinese Wang Kaihua at 27 set the third fastest time in history in the 20 km walk (1 h 16 min 54 sec), just 18 seconds from the world record held since 2015 by the Japanese Yusuke Suzuki. (1 h 16 min 36 sec).
