Conscious of obesity? – Its effect on self-esteem

Are you aware of your weight?

Many people are very self-conscious about how they look, and they don’t have to be.

Some people just have a shy nature.

You have to decide if you are really self-conscious about being overweight or if you just have a self-conscious nature.

Both can be easily fixed.

Before we begin this discussion of being overweight, let’s take a moment to define what it means to be self-aware.

It is when you have an unpleasant feeling of being watched or observed by others.

Being self conscious is when you don’t want the attention that you think you are attractive. Or at least the kind of care you think you’re getting. Therein lies the true definition of being self-aware. It is what you think or perceive. It may not be reality.

Remember that.

Are you being watched?

Do you think “everyone is watching you”? It may just be your imagination. Your self-image and self-esteem play a big role in how you imagine yourself in the eyes of other people.

Some people are naturally more self-aware than others. Sometimes these feelings can go beyond shyness and actually border on paranoia.

Being worried about how others see you when you are overweight can exaggerate these feelings. It’s the same kind of embarrassment you would experience if you suddenly found yourself out in public with no clothes on.

It will definitely make you feel uncomfortable and embarrassed.

And this phenomenon occurs particularly with overweight boys and girls in their teens.

Being overly aware of their bodies seems to be a phase teenagers go through. Being overweight is just another thing that haunts teens. However, these adolescent feelings can affect a person’s self-image well into adulthood.

Be aware of the little things

Being self-aware means that you become very aware of even the smallest and most harmless thing about yourself. Then you start obsessing over it.

When it comes to being overweight, you may think everyone is looking at you when you buy a candy bar or walk into a bakery. In this case, you might be concerned if they are thinking, “Why does that fat girl/boy need that candy bar?” or some other silly idea.

Of course, it’s just a dumb idea for an uninvolved third party looking at the situation through your distant eyes. For the person buying that candy bar, it becomes a serious problem that fuels his feelings of shyness.

A similar feeling can occur when a shy person is eating at a restaurant. They may feel that everyone is “watching” them to see what and how much they are eating.

don’t be so self centered

By the very definition of being self-aware, you are placing too much emphasis on yourself. Being overweight just gives you a reason (in your own mind, at least) why people may be looking at you and having unpleasant thoughts about you.

Unfortunately, when you’re too concerned with what you’re doing and how you’re doing it, you get nervous and make “mistakes.”

You drop items that clatter on the floor.

You knock things down making a mess.

This only adds to your anxiety because now everyone (once again, in your own mind) has another reason to look at you and be judgmental.

It is a negative situation that feeds itself, making you feel worse about yourself with each passing moment.

Lose weight – Decrease self-awareness

Something amazing happens when you lose weight.

You start to feel better about yourself.

You experience an improvement in your self-confidence.

Your self-esteem skyrockets and you start to feel good about your relationships.

And your timid attitude dissolves.

Life gets so much better for you.

You will begin to wonder why it took so long to lose the weight that has been plaguing you for so many years. That’s a great thing to happen.
