Whether you are teaching young children or older students, there are many resources available to help teach American history. From books to videos, here are some of our favorite sources for learning about American history. One of the best ways to learn history is through literature. It’s a great way to bring history to life and get kids interested in what they’re reading.

I’ve found some wonderful literature-based books to use in our american history homeschool curriculum that will help your students learn about the American past, from Native Americans and their beliefs to the Civil War and beyond. Another option for using literature in your classroom is to choose picture books that teach history. These books can be read aloud together or assigned for independent reading.

These picture books also make excellent starters for younger children, from early readers to kindergarten level. You can find these books in many formats including PDF downloads, audio CDs and iTunes. If you are looking for something a little more hands-on, consider adding some interactive learning activities to your lesson plans. Whether you use them online or print them out, these activities are sure to enhance your students’ study of American history.
