How to connect a turntable to a PC?

The turntable is a circular turntable that primarily supports a record while it plays. Virtually any turntable can be connected to your computer, although if you want a standard turntable, you need to pre-amplify the signal first. When you use a turntable that works as part of a stereo stack, it will already have a preamp.

However, if you are using a stand-alone turntable, it is more likely that you will need to purchase a pre-amplifier, also known as a receiver. There are several modern turntables that feature a universal serial bus connector that can eliminate the requirement for a separate preamp; this allows you to place the turntable directly on your computer.

However, recording from a turntable to a computer generally requires you to connect the player’s audio output connection to any of your PC’s audio input connections. A preamp is always needed before you start connecting your turntable to any computer to make sure it has decent volume. In this article, you will learn how to connect a turntable to a computer.

For standard turntables

First, plug the plug at the end of a stereo RCA cable into the jack on your

turntable.

Then you need to put the plugs on the other end of the stereo cable into the input jacks on the preamp.

You will now need to plug the RCA connectors on one end of the adapter cable into the output jacks on your preamp.

And then you need to plug the stereo mini phone plug into the computer’s line level input jack. You will find it as light blue cat.

The USB turntable is completely different from conventional type turntables as it is designed to work with computers. For this reason, most USB models usually include programs to record or transfer vinyl to data files. Most of the software packages provided include Audacity, a free and open source recording and editing program. The Audacity is usually used below as an instance because it works similarly on Mac and Windows PC.

First, you need to install the manufacturer-provided software for the USB turntable on your PC.

Then you need to turn on the power of your USB turntable.

And then put the USB connector of your turntable into a USB socket of your PC.

Now you need to start the Audacity software. Do this by tapping on the Edit menu and select the Preferences option.

Touch the Devices option to see a list of options for recording and playback devices.

Then you need to tap on the Device dropdown list. You’ll find it in the Recording group.

Finally, you need to select “Microsoft Sound Mapper” or the USB driver provided by the turntable manufacturer.
