McAfee removal steps using McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR)

After the computer has restarted, connect to the Internet, open your Internet browser, and download MCPR.exe, the McAfee removal tool from a trusted website. You can also copy and paste this link ‘download.McAfee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe’ into the address bar of your browser. Press Enter afterwards. When prompted, press the Save File button. If prompted, choose to save the MCPR.exe file to your desktop. Check the Downloads folder if you are not prompted to choose a location.

Locate the MCPR.exe file and open it. Click the Run button to start the tool. When you see the McAfee Software Removal screen, click the Next button. Select the button next to I agree to accept the license terms and conditions, and then click the Next button. Type the letters displayed on the screen in the empty box. Remember, these letters are case sensitive. Therefore, be sure to write lowercase letters in lowercase and uppercase letters in uppercase. Press the Next button. It will show a message as preparing to uninstall.

If the product cleanup is successful, the tool will display a message such as Complete Removal or Removed Software. Click the Restart Now button. If the cleanup is still unsuccessful, you will see an uninstall incomplete message. Click the View Log button and you will see a list of files that were not removed by the tool in Windows Notepad. Save the notebook by clicking the File menu (at the top) and then selecting the Save As option (save the default file name, namely mccleanup). Get out of all windows. Contact McAfee Support for complete removal of leftover files.
