Leapfrog Leapster – the good, the bad and the ugly

Tea Leapfrog Leapster learning game system takes kids’ love of movies and video games and turns them into an educational experience. The now famous company Leapfrog has found a way to attract children to its video game format and teach them at the same time. It has a stylus and keyboard to teach hand-eye coordination and is highly interactive to reinforce valuable reading, language and math skills. There are some drawbacks in frog jump however, like having to constantly buy new games for the kids.

There is a manual included that helps teach how to relate math and art concepts to the real world. Edison the Firefly is also always available to provide helpful advice if kids get stuck or get a question wrong.

The Leapfrog Leapster is small and highly portable. It can easily fit into a purse, bag or backpack. They are extremely useful on flights or long car rides to keep children busy and learning. It is ideal for entertainment on the go.

The Leapfrog Leapster is great, however, there are some downsides to this game system. The first drawback is that it works with batteries. Uses 4 AA batteries, so be sure to bring extras on a long trip. There’s a rechargeable battery pack I’d recommend if your kids play a lot (which most will), and it’s sold separately. Your children will also ask for more games. They’ll be able to choose from all of the hottest names in kids’ entertainment: Dora the Exporer, Sponge Bob Squarepants, Nemo, Cinderella, Batman, and even The Little Mermaid. These games can range from $20 to $50.

The Leapfrog Leapster makes a great Christmas gift and is sure to be a hit. They’re one of the best-selling items this holiday season, so be sure to pick one up before they’re all gone!
