Roulette: The Game of Remarkable Comebacks

In casino games, sometimes even the most knowledgeable players resort to blind luck to get through the day. Of course, luck can never be trusted; Either things will go well for you or they won’t. The great thing about casino games is that luck has to be with you for just a moment to make a difference on what could easily have been a bad day.

Roulette is in my opinion the best game to play where you can turn blind luck into a great casino story to tell your friends.

Recently, my family dragged me to the casinos in Atlantic City. I’m not going to lie to you, I didn’t feel very lucky and I would have preferred to stay home. Since I was ‘forced’ to go, my goal was to hide, play slow and steady, kill time, and push myself until my parents were ready to come home. I thought I had everything covered.

Well, I spent a bit of time at the $10 craps tables, but mostly I played $20 pai gow and then some $15 blackjack. For the life of me, I couldn’t do anything and instead of staying afloat, I was losing money all afternoon. After about 4 hours, I was down $435, which could have been worse, but it was obviously far from the result I wanted.

I was close to broke and ready to go home when I was reunited with my family. Suddenly I had a crazy idea. “I have one more thing to do before we go. I have to go to the roulette table.” My family shrugged nonchalantly and followed me as they are mostly slot players and all table games are Greek to them.

The plan was to throw a few more dollars and try to recover all the money I lost in one fell swoop. I went over the math in my head as I approached the roulette table. I was down $435, so I knew a bet of $40 at 11-1 could get me back to even. I wish.

I found a roulette table and gave the dealer $40, who handed me 8 red coins. I reached out and put all the chips on ’28 Street’. (It’s a three number bet: 28, 29 or 30 would win for me.) The dealer spun, I stood near the roulette wheel and prayed!

The ball slowed and bounced around the wheel for several tense seconds as I landed one of my three numbers. He popped up at number 2 and stayed there for a bit, then dropped into the number two slots.

I went absolutely crazy! I screamed and clenched my fists, screamed and ran up and down the aisle as the dealer paid me $440 on my $40 bet (eleven to one) and the floor supervisor tried in vain to calm me down. My family was as incredulous as I was that he would have such a dramatic comeback.

Just like that, I got my money back! I tipped the dealer $5, leaving me with exactly as much money as I got. I’ll take a draw over a loss any day! On that note, we left and headed home. Dinner that night was on me.

It would be irresponsible of me to recommend that you try something like this on a regular basis. American roulette has a house edge of 5.26%, so in the long run you will lose more money on this move than you will win – theoretically 5.26% of what you bet. Roulette is not the best game to play if you plan to stay at the table for hours on end because of this house edge. However, for a single spin, it’s pretty much a given that you’re relying on luck, so the house edge doesn’t really matter that much.

If you choose to try this out the next time you’re up against the wall, here are some recommendations:

It’s better to bet so that you get enough to catch up for the day rather than trying to hit a home run, so to speak. If you have a loss of $350, try betting $10 on a straight number for a possible 35-1, or $45 on a corner bet (4 numbers) which would pay 8-1. Sure, you could win more if you bet, say, $25 directly on a number and it hits, but the odds of that happening are a bit long, and you’d lose a lot more money if the play doesn’t work out. do not hit

Consider this type of game as a last resort. If it doesn’t work the first time, don’t try again! If you do, you could easily fall into the trap of chasing your money, where your bets would get bigger and bigger in the hope of only getting it right once. Rarely does a bank chase situation have a happy ending.

A game of blind luck roulette might get you through your next day at the casino, but I hope it doesn’t come down to all that.
