Teen Beauty Secrets: 7 Keys to Looking and Feeling Great While Reducing Stress

One of the critical beauty secrets for teens looking good and feeling good is reducing the stress in our lives. When we feel overwhelmed, we look overwhelmed. It takes away our beauty! Think of the days when you have loads of homework, fight with your friends, and have a dress rehearsal until 9 pm. You feel overwhelmed, overwhelmed, and so stressed! Fancy a trip to the tropics right now? Immediately start reducing your stress and looking more beautiful by following these seven easy steps.

1) Take some time for yourself:

When we are busy and overwhelmed, often the first thing to be taken out of our schedule is precious time for ourselves. Take 30 seconds to write down 10 things that make you happy. Now, look at your list and see if you can add at least 3 of these to your week. You may even need to schedule them in advance. It can be as simple as jogging, playing with your pets, shopping, talking to your friends, or taking a warm bath.

It’s important to spend a little time each day, whether it’s a minute, 5 minutes, 20 minutes, or an hour. How long can you afford? If it’s just a minute, put your feet up, kick off your shoes, and take a few deep breaths. The important thing is that you are making time for activities that make you smile. And the more we smile, the more beautiful we look and feel!

2) Practice relaxation strategies:

There are several relaxation strategies proven to provide immediate relief. Have you tried deep breathing? Many times, we are not really breathing correctly. Try to sit comfortably, close your eyes, and breathe slowly and deeply. Now hold that for a few seconds and exhale slowly. Repeat this several times and you will start to feel relief. Others have found comfort in simple stretches during the workday. This can be simply rolling your shoulders, neck, or straightening your legs. Finally, some people prefer to use yoga or meditation to relax.

3) Learn to prioritize:

Sometimes following a short list of priorities can help eliminate unnecessary stress. At night or first thing in the morning, write down the 3 most important things you need to accomplish today. If a new task or distraction tries to throw you off track, finish the priority first or make sure you have a scheduled time to complete it later.

4) Learn to say no:

Your friends and family may try to get you to help them because you are such a nice person. However, when you can never say no, your own priorities get pushed aside and stress often begins to build up. Learning to say no can be a difficult task for all of us. One way to improve this ability is to wait before giving an answer. Ask for time to think about your response, and let your friend know when you will contact them. If you decide what to say isn’t the right thing to say and you’re still feeling nervous, practice what you’re going to say out loud with yourself or another friend.

5) Exercise:

It’s not new news that exercise can help reduce our stress levels. When we exercise, our body releases endorphins (natural pain relievers) and more oxygen to the brain. However, it is often difficult for most of us to make time to exercise when we are already feeling the burdens and pressures of stress in our lives. Look at your schedule and see where you can fit in a minimum of 3 exercise sessions a week. Try to go beyond your physical education class at school. You will feel better and you will look more beautiful too!

6) Use humor

When was the last time you laughed? Are you able to laugh at yourself? Making sure to laugh every day can bring a great sense of relief and decrease anxiety. If you need a little more humor, try watching a funny movie or talking to a friend who makes you laugh.

7) Be proactive

Do you recognize the warning signs of feeling too stressed? What are your warning signs? A tight neck, irritability, fatigue, upset stomach? The next time you notice one of these signs, try to implement a stress reducer immediately. Using one of the seven tips we’ve already reviewed will help you manage your stress before it manages you! More importantly, it’s one of the hidden beauty secrets that teens forget about.
