The number of complaints against racist acts increased in 2020

The Unia opened 956 cases for acts of racism in 2020. An increase of 1.5% compared to 2019.
956 files opened for acts of racism in 2020. This is the figure published in a press release by Unia on the occasion of the World Day against Racism. This is an increase of 1.5% compared to 2019. The number of reports related to so-called racial characteristics increased by 49.5% to reach 3,684 last year.
The Unia is an institution which fights against discrimination and defends equal opportunities in Belgium.
