Wish under the elms, a representation of fiery passion and rivalry

Desire under the olms is a modern play written by our famous playwright Eugene or Neil. The theme has it all. This is the crux of the story that the elms are actually Eben’s mother and are dominating and suppressing the old man’s desires. Elms are a direct reference to motherhood. They show neither affection nor love, but rather a terrifying, petrifying and dangerous shadow of motherhood. The whole thing is a bit absurd, but you can’t ignore it. Control and dominance take away the look of sweetness and soft feelings.

We can relate to it to some degree, but its ominous threat and sense of impending doom overlap with the belief in love. Women are the central idea here. They are a powerful image and are capable of destroying and protecting you. The elms are flabby and that is the representation of women with a heavy figure. Boxed and grouped. This book is the living example of a broken family mysteriously dominated by a ghostly but familiar figure. There are two trees and they both show powerful emotion.
