Crappie Queen from LINDY Review

May 24, 2011. I woke up this morning to the sun coming through the window with one thing on my mind: I wanted to try my new insoles I bought (“Crappie Queen’s” by Lindy). So I loaded the boat and headed to the lake. Central Park has excellent Crappie and Bluegill, and it’s about time they started spawning. After putting the boat in the water and checking my map of the lake (which was FREE from the Iowa DNR website), I headed to the only place I thought I would find Crappie: the south side of the lake where my map shows a sharp drop or ledge. Okay, maybe not the best place to spawn, but I knew there would be fish there. How did Lindy do with this template?

Here’s what Lindy says about her jig: “The crappie queen’s wings and front hackle give this bug-like jig a weird slow sinking, zigzag action. That means more time – And more stings! – in the attack zone! ” Lindy Crappie Queen “

THE BUMBLEBEE QUEEN 1/16 (Bee)

I tied up the bumblebee and did a few casts, experimenting with different jig methods. I noticed very quickly that the bee was sinking slowly, so there was no need to think that this little jig was sinking straight to the bottom as soon as I loosened it up a bit. After I realized that and gave him time to work his magic, he began to slowly sink to the bottom. I had two hits straight away with a big mouth bass. However, I did not land these two fish. I don’t think it is due to the design of the template. Oh, let’s call it operator error. This is my jigging method: throw the pole, tension the line, pull the pole up, drop the pole while picking up slack. Repeat until the template is back in your boat or on land. I give this template an 8 out of ten. No kind of fish caught, but I’ll fight big-mouth all day if I have too.

THE WHITE QUEEN 1/16.

I found this jig reacting the same as the bee, however I was unable to bite or fish with the jig. I give this an 8 out of 10 because it did what the packaging said it would do. There may be no fish fish, but I don’t think fish would want a white bait today.

THE HOT PINK QUEEN 1/16.

What can I say? When LINDY called this template hot pink, they meant it. It’s so bright that the guy who was mowing the lawn in the park waved at me as he passed by with his lawnmower, but I didn’t care as long as he was catching Crappie at Central Park Lake. Give me a bar of pink Barbie with LINDY’S HOT PINK QUEEN, and let’s go fishing! Again, I give this template an 8 out of 10. It would have been a 10 out of 10 if it had been a pretty girl at the mower waving.

At the end of the day I landed a bluegill and had two Bigmouth Bass on the line. I don’t think it’s bad for 2 and a half hours of fishing. The time of year is dubious for Crappie and Bluegill, so I can’t blame Lindy for not catching Crappie. The product did what it said it would do and also put fish on my line. I’ll keep some of these templates in my tackle box for the right time. I suggest you take some as well. It’s worth less than $ 3.00 a jig. Overall, I rate LINDY’S CRAPPIE QUEENS an 8 out of 10. Thank you LINDY for this great jig!
