Cultural Policy – “New Start Package”: Video and streaming funding advertised

The Ministry of Culture is awarding two million euros for video adaptations and streaming projects as part of the “From Stage to Video” funding program. From today, Monday, and by May 15th at the latest, productions from the fields of theater, dance, performance, cabaret, music and musical theater can be submitted. The maximum funding amount per project is 35,000 euros.

“We know that there are many finished productions that cannot currently be presented to an audience due to the ongoing ban on events,” said State Secretary for Art and Culture Andrea Mayer (Greens) as quoted in a broadcast. As a result, the project funding should on the one hand make productions accessible to the public and on the other hand enable artists to perform by digitizing analogue productions or making them sustainably usable.

An independent jury provides suggestions for the award of the funding. It decides on the basis of the submitted project concept, the professionalism of the technical implementation or the qualifications of the participants. Fair pay and diversity also flow into the decision.

“From the stage to the video” is the first of several announced funding programs within the framework of the “New Start Culture” package of measures. This comprises a total of 20 million euros and should “provide additional impetus for the new start”, as Mayer said at the presentation in mid-March. (apa)
