How to Quickly Add Details to Your Warhammer 40K Tyranid Army

You now have a large Tyranid army from Warhammer 40k, but you’re not satisfied with all the details yet, so you want to add quick details. But your dilemma is that you have to sacrifice a good paint job to save time. In this article, you’ll learn tips and tricks on how to quickly add detail to your army without spending a ridiculous amount of time painting. And the best part about it is that it wouldn’t look like a quick paint job. Just be sure to let it dry first before proceeding with another paint color.

For this article we have chosen to paint a termagaunt.

PAINTINGS

-bubonic brown

-bleached bone (optional)

-brown ink

-yellow ink

-Red blood

-red scab (optional)

-Red blood

Step 1 Paint bubonic brown

Starting from its original color simply start by painting a layer of bubonic brown over your termagaunt’s skin. Just paint it smooth and even on both sides.

Step 2 Dry Brushing the Termagaunt (Optional, you can skip this step to save time)

Next, dry brush equal amounts of bubonic brown and bleached bone to your termaguant, but you can skip this step if you want to save precious time if you wish. This is only optional if you want to add more details to your termagaunt.

Step 3 Light Dry Brush (optional, you can skip this step to save time)

After dry brushing with bubonic brown, it’s time to dry brush again with bleached bone. Like the second step, this third step is also optional, you can skip it if you want to save time, just make sure you paint the termagaunt perfectly.

Step 4 Termagaunt Wash

(NOTE: make sure your thermo liner is completely dry before ink washing or you’ll stain the paint. Trust us, you’re better off waiting a few minutes first.) Here is the quick details part. Wash your termagant with 2 parts brown ink, 1 part yellow ink, and 2 parts water.

Step 5 Paint armor

In order to recognize the termagaunt’s armor by its body, you must paint a solid layer of red blood on the armor of your gloves. Make sure you only paint the armor and not include the body, that’s why you need a thin, soft brush for this.

Step 6 Highlight the Rebar (Optional, you can skip this step to save time)

After painting the armor with red gore paint, it’s time to add some highlights to it. Now add some touches of scab red to your termagaunt armor. But if you are in a rush, you can easily skip this step to move on to the next one to save some time.

Step 7 Highlight a little more

Finally, add some last blood red highlights to your termagaunt to add more detail in your termagaunt and do it again in another termagaunt.

There you go! Quick details in half the time, looking twice as good. Enjoy!
