Karma, Sex And Relationships: 7 Things That Surprisingly Won’t Earn You Bad Karma

There may be many things that you got away with as a child. But now you know better, we hope. If you’re like most people, you live your life in line with society’s expectations, but is everything you comply with really for your own good?

Laws, regulations, rules and more rules. But are they all legitimate from the standpoint of karma, freedom, and personal responsibility?

In your spiritual quest, you may have asked yourself, “What is acceptable behavior in a karmic sense? What won’t earn me negative karma?”

Our findings from more than 25 years of empirical research on the subject tell us that it’s mostly about making sure you don’t intentionally hurt anyone or yourself.

Morality is frequently subjective; beware of conventional wisdom involving “right and wrong.” We believe that you will never be punished in the afterlife for many behaviors that are considered wicked in today’s world.

Here are seven things that are frowned upon in many societies, but will not cause you to incur any negative karma.

1. Break up with someone: that is, leave him. As long as you’re not trying to harm them in the process, you’re clean. If it’s over for you, the best thing to do is leave in peace. By the way, sticking around when it’s over for you and not releasing them so they can find someone more compatible could incur negative karma.

2. The act of divorce. Yes, you promised to be with him or her forever, but feelings change, just like people. An ex who drags his feet and makes it very difficult, out of spite, who wants to leave, however, will incur negative karma.

3. Prostitution between two consenting adults. What about a sex worker (or non-sex worker) having sex with 100s, even 1000s of people? Isn’t that an ethical crime? No, only if you’re under the wrong impression that sex is wrong or dirty, and in karmic terms, it’s not.

Sleeping with more than one person will result in zero negative karma, as long as you aren’t scamming or hurting anyone. In fact, due to the healing benefits of sex, you can even gain positive karma, especially if you’re good in bed. Sex between two consenting adults, regardless of whether one (or both) is paid, just like marital prostitution, is nobody’s business but theirs.

Conspicuous self-righteousness, arising from distorted morality and corrupt religiosity, is at the root of many current laws relating to sex and intimate relationships. Interestingly, those who force their personal and subjective morality on others, through laws that steal personal liberties, incur negative karma.

4. Living together before marriage. Another forbidden act based on religion, but with no negative karma attached to it.

5. Having children out of wedlock. Absolutely no bad karma acquired here, as long as you don’t neglect your responsibilities.

6. Being in an open relationship or marriage. Yes, even if you have 100 lovers at the same time, as long as you’re honest about it and haven’t made any false promises or intentionally hurt anyone, you’re off the hook. Just act responsibly, even by having safe sex.

7. Homosexuality. Interpret the ancient religious texts however you like, but consensual sex between two people of the same gender will not generate negative karma at all.

Illegal behavior is best avoided, but you will save yourself the guilt if you live your life in accordance with the understanding of the law of karma rather than the restrictive code of conduct imposed on you by the moral squad.
