Prayers at the Tzadikim Tombs

During the life of a Tzadik (holy and righteous person), people come to him to be blessed and ask him to pray for them. The power of a righteous person is greater than that of a layman, whether in his prayers or in his blessing, his words are more welcome in Heaven. When the Tzadik passes away, the Tzadik’s tomb becomes a place where people come to pray and ask for his defense in Heaven.

In Jewish tradition, the prayers at the tombs of Tzadikim are a source of blessing from Above and an opportunity to communicate with God on a higher level. In fact, a Tzadik is known to have more power after death than in life. This is because now your soul is free from the material body and you can more easily approach the Throne of God.

Some of the Tzadikim have promised specific help to the people who will come to pray at their graves. For example, the tomb of Rabbi Yonatan Ben Uziel in Amuka, Israel, is known as a place where single men and women come to pray for their true soul mates. Many of them are miraculously married within a year of their visit to this tomb of the Tzaddik.

Many stories are told of prayers miraculously answered after praying at the tombs of Tzadikim; Barren women who have been blessed with children, sick people who are wonderfully healed, and even people with financial difficulties who are resolved unexpectedly. These different tombs are visited by thousands of people, who come to beg the Almighty to grant them their various requests.

The fact that someone comes to the tomb of a Tzaddik and recites prayers to God, is a merit of that Tzadik and elevates his soul higher in Heaven. In return, the Tzaddik does everything possible to help that person in need by pleading on their behalf before God.

It is an encouraging thought, that even if we are not worthy enough of the miraculous support from Above, we can use this powerful prayer tool in the tombs of Tzadikim to merit the defense of a holy and ancient Tzadik in Heaven.
